Hosea Chapter 4

Well, hello everybody and thank you again for joining me. I wanted to do a brief intro to a discussion we are going to have later. So, in this intro I wanted to shine some light on chapter 4 of Hosea. Because this applies to this generation as it did the generations before us. I think it’s II Kings where it speaks on the havoc that was going on, and he, meaning Hosea, had seen this coming because he was a prophet. A lot of people are not believers of those who are blessed with the gift of sight, but I won’t stay there. It’s three main parts to Hosea and in the beginning, God told him to marry Gomer. Gomer liked to sleep around, and the people knew it which attach labels to her.

We must keep in mind that we all have a past and that we are not our labels. God told him to have children with her, and he did. They had three in the first round. Can you hear the chatter and the ridicule he must have faced. Everyone knows his home situation. That grapevine must have been lit! I am sure he was sad, and people were pointing fingers at him. This had to be overwhelming for him and frustrating. So, what do you do when things like this arise (you run of course)? He divorced Gomer.

Keep in mind that all things happen in God’s timing. Period there is no way around it.

God tells this man to go find her again, his wife, and clear her debt with those she loved and had sex with and marry her again. (Wait what)

Now many of us hear God. Go back and forth with God on why it won’t work, I can’t do that, you’re not good enough, the other person not good enough, I’m not ready yet, but you missed the point. God IS! And if God feels you are in a place of receiving He gives to us and it is up to us to receive. Now if we don’t then don’t cry about why, because you rejected it. God showed you and you did not act. So, no matter what you think. God is the one who gets the glory in all things. So, this man had to swallow his pride and marry her again and have more children.

The brokenness, the marriage, the children. It’s all a prophetic symbol of Israel and all God ever asks, and return is that the people be faithful to him. God loves us. He is compassionate and faithful. He gives grace and shows mercy. Daily. Could we afford to be divorced by God? In chapter 4. God has a case. He is looking at us. What does he see? No faithfulness, kindness. No acknowledgement of who he is, swearing, deception, murder, stealing, adultery, violence, bloodshed. And people are hurting. No one is taking accountability. Yet a whole lot of fun is taking place. Does this sound familiar? So, then God says you will stumble, stumble by night, I will destroy your mother. (This is a promise, people miss the verbiage) That was a guarantee. I will is a command. He said my people. And when he said my people, I can hear God crying. Literally. Because as a parent and a friend, I see, and I hear the choices that those close to me make. I can hear the Lord saying my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you rejected. Because it’s not that you aren’t being told, but because it doesn’t fit what you are looking for, or because it doesn’t feel good. Or because you’ve been hurt before or because it needs to be your way, and you reject my message. So then since you have forgotten the law of your God. I will also forget your children. The more people it was, the more they sinned against God. So as the world kept having kids more people continued to sin against God.

God said I will change their glory to shame. They feed on the sin of my people and direct their desire towards their iniquity. And I will be like people like Priest. So, I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their deeds. They will eat and not have enough. They will play harlot but not increase. Because they have stopped giving heed to the Lord. Harlotry is a word that continues to come up. But what is it? It’s just another name for prostitute. And so, he says. Harlotry, wine, and new wine take away the understanding. When you are under the influence of substances, you cannot hear the voice of God. The frequencies are crossed. When you overeat, how do you feel? Your mind is tired. Your body is full. God said my people consult their wooden idols and their wizard wands warns them, for a spirit of prostitution has led them astray. And he goes on and says, because their shade is pleasant.

In other words, people are having fun doing their own thing, so the people without understanding are ruined. And when you are ruined and life happens, what do people do? They cry out to God and expect him to respond. God has already given you the command, but you are choosing not to listen for selfish reasons for what your eyes see, for fun and games, for convenience and whatever else. But you will have to cry out again and again, and I pray he listens. People don’t want to know God until life happens. Most people anyway. Most people join church and come to God when they are in crisis. But God is a strategist, and he strategically places people and things into your life at the timing in which he wants them there to help get you to the next level. Do we reject those people, all the time? This is one big game of choice. You can be set up for good, or you can spiral for the lack of knowledge and understanding, for rejecting the gift he sends to you.

This was just an overview of Chapters 1 through 4.

I will pick up this chapter later, but Jeremy SaDon and I will cover this in a deeper discussion, so stay tuned.

And on that note, if you hang in there with me, I will always be there for you. Peace. #countree
