Looking Back
I speak on Paul often.
In Philippians, Chapter 3. He writes, “brethren I count not myself to have apprehended, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Jeremiah Chapter 6 tells us “To stand at the crossroads and look to the ancient path. This is a call to not go back to our old ways, but to choose the path of life instead. God offers a new life to us and wants us to take it.”
We often go backwards because of the worldly pleasures. It’s a familiar place. It’s comfortable and we have a fear of what lies ahead. Some have a fear of failure.
This makes me think about Lots wife. God spoke a command and that was to flee from Sodom and Gomorrah before it was destroyed. There was so much deceit and worldly stuff going on and God decided to make a call and end it. Lot’s wife raised her family in a city known for its sexual manners. She did not want to leave her familiar place to go into the unknown. She loved her past, where she had come from, so then, to give it all up mentally had her in a place of captivity. It’s what many people fight with in relationships, careers, and friendships. It’s hard to let go of that familiar place, but when God is shifting you and placing people into your life, you must let go. Do not get stuck in a place. Stop letting life pass you by! Leave the home boys in the hood. End some of those negative relationships. Gossiping gets depressing. You get sucked in a place. Leave that job. When you are blessed, God elevates you. With elevation some things and people fall by the waist side. Bad things happen when you look back. Most of the time. If you are going back to assist and mentor, great! We must pay attention to the end goal. God wants to use us. You are not curious for nothing? Start questioning yourselves. Are the things of my past adding value to my future? Do I have positive outlets surrounding me such as meditating, running, reading, drawing or whatever you consider to be positive? Most importantly, don’t rush life! If you are not ready to advance take your time and grow. Prepare yourself. Do that extra year of college. Don’t commit if you are not ready. On that note if you hang in there with me, I will hang in there with you! Peace😊
